Little Friends Medici - Sold -

This is our last foal for the year. We had come in late the night before and for once I didn't check on Mocha since she didn't look ready that morning. She was content with her two older companion jennies that we had put in with her when the last baby was born so that she wouldn't have to wait on her baby all by herself. Since it was the weekend I went to feed a little later than usual as well. I saw Mocha depressed looking at me with her belly gone. I just knew that her baby was probably dead... but then I looked over and the companion jenny guarded the baby and defended it like there was no tomorrow. After finally getting the baby back with his mom he nursed for about 25 minutes. We are hoping that it was still within the critical time frame for his colostrum - so far so good - but the next few days will tell us more... Diamond and Sundance gave us a pretty little girl and she arrived without incidence. I couldn't believe how much meat she had on her when she was born... Our second baby for this year is the cutest little girl. She is so soft with such a rich dark red color! She is all girl and loves to cuddle... She brayed a hello on her second day and came running to me... absolutely adorable. What else can I say? She is the smallest baby this year... and likes to hang out with Jahan.
