Little Friends Aztec                                                          - Sold -

Date of Birth: 07. May 2010

Birth Height: 20" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: brown

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Little Friends Elia

         33 1/2" Dark Brown

Our last foal for the year (we thought) has arrived. It is Elia's first foal and it is a black, little jack! Elia is a wonderful mother that takes wonderful care of her little one. Little Aztec is friendly and it always takes me extra long to clean out his stall since always stands on the poop scooper so that I have to stop to love on him. What a smart little boy he is!

Aztec's new home will be in Maurertown, Virginia.

Little Friends Diego                                                        - Sold -

Date of Birth: 24. April 2010 - during a very strong spring storm

Birth Height: 23 1/2" at 1 day

Foal Coat Color: brown

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2 Red

Dam: Little Friends Miss Kenya

         34" Dark Brown

So, Kenya waited for the storm to arrive before she delivered her foal outside in her run-in shed. We had been checking on her for 3 days but could not get out to her with all the lightning. She has had a foal before and she doesn't like being in a stall by herself - so we left her with her friend. When we got out after the storm her baby was there and he acted like a 2 day old - playing - nursing... and just enjoying being finally here! No wonder he seems glad - she didn't look that big but this big boy measured at 23 1/2" at 1 day! How he fit inside her and got there all by himself without any problems amazes me. He seems so mature! He is Nacho's last foal for the year! We'll only have one more Sundance baby due for this year!

Little Friends Sangria

Date of Birth: 14. April 2010 - 1:10 PM

Birth Height: 21 1/2" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: brown

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Little Friends Bacardi

         32 3/4" Dark Brown

I suddenly had the feeling that I needed to go outside to check on the girls even though noone really looked that close to foaling that morning. Sure enough Bacardi was in labor and the little one was almost completely delivered. I put them into a clean stall and little Sangria found her milkbottle pretty fast. I had an appointment in town so had to leave them knowing that all was well. When I came back a few hours later Bacardi's teats were huge and the baby apparently was latching on but could not suck for some reason. So I milked Bacardi and fed some of the milk to the baby. I hope it was enough colostrum and that she is not going to get sick. I went and checked on her about every hour to feed her a little bit more until she didn't want no more! I ended up giving her a little bit of corn syrup and that did the trick - she was sucking like a champion by morning.  I've been watching her like a hawk ever since. She seems to be doing fine at 11 days of age - let's hope she will continue to do so. She is a little lovebug!

Little Friends Serengeti                                                             - Sold -

Date of Birth: 14. April 2010 - 1:30 AM

Birth Height: 22 3/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: dark red

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2 Red

Dam: Dalley Ho's Stella

         32 3/4" Red/Brown/Roan

Well, this little beauty arrived at about the exact same time as Velvet's foal had arrived just the night before - and it's the same beautiful dark red! My husband was going to be nice again - but this time I woke up and realized he had not come back in - I was so worried that something was wrong - and made it out there when he was bringing them into the barn. Everything was just fine! Well this little one is our 11th foal and she broke the gender pattern! I guess she wanted to arrive with all the red ones and didn't want to be left behind. I'm glad these little girls know who their mom is since it is almost impossible to tell Syria and Serengeti apart. I'm learning little things about them so that I know. This baby is a very dark red but the pictures don't show her color too well.

Little Friends Salani                                                                  - Sold -

Date of Birth: 13. April 2010 - 2:30 PM

Birth Height: 19 1/4 1/2" at 2 days (still with some of her protective pads on her hooves

Foal Coat Color: light red

Sire: Ass-pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" light red

Dam: Little Friends Salsa

         33" Red

Lookie here! An absolute Jolly trademark baby! I was on my way out to pick up my son from school to take to his swim practice. I had checked on Salsa at just after 2 PM and she was munching at the hay bale. Salsa is a little bit reserved and doesn't like me to touch her too much - so I was a little bit worried that she may be the same with her baby since this is her first one. At 2:40PM on my way out of the driveway the little one was just getting up. I iodined her belly cord really quick and went on to town. Of course I returned right away to make sure all was well and to put them into their stall. Salsa for the first day or two let the baby do whatever she wanted to and I was worried that she wouldn't protect it out with the other older foals. Salani was sooooo tiny but beautiful! I started putting her into a different coral so that there wouldn't be any others around. Then we put another new mom/foal with her to make sure that she would take care of her baby. She did just fine - her protective instinct just took a few days to really kick in. She is a wonderful mom with a beautiful baby! Two red babies in one day and our gender pattern continued.

Little Friends Miss Syria                                                     - Sold -

Date of Birth: 13. April 2010 - 1:30 AM

Birth Height: 22 3/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: dark red

Sire: Little Friends Nacho Supreme

        31 1/2 Red

Dam: Little Friends Red Velvet

         34 3/4" Dark Red/Roan

This absolutely beautiful colored girl arrived in the middle of the night. My husband was so nice and didn't wake me up this time since he knew how wore out I was. He waited for Velvet to deliver her baby and then put them into a stall and made sure that all was well. Maybe we'll continue with our 2x girl/boy pattern. Syria is absolutely sweet !

Little Friends Azucar                                                        - Sold -

Date of Birth: 08. April 2010 - 11:30 AM

Birth Height: 22 1/4" at 2 days

Foal Coat Color: gray-dun

Sire: Ass-pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" light red

Dam: Little Friends Frosted Beauty

         32 3/4" Brown/Frosty Roan

It looks like the babies all come in "twos" this spring. (two girls, two boys, two girls and now again two boys). Today was cooler and really windy so we kept a very close eye on the girls. We knew that Frosty was close to having her baby. On one of my frequent checks the little guy had just been delivered. He was still in his bag. Of course he went straight to a nice warm stall. It will be a couple of days before I can say anything about his personality but if he is anything like his mom - he will be the sweetest little boy! (His mom is always with us when we are out there) - Update 13. April: Of course he is exactly like his mom and taking pictures is next to impossible - he is always all over me.... The pictures don't do him justice...

Another day-time baby for which I am so thankful! This cute little guy was all dry when we came home. Martino is a little bit reserved - not as pushy for attention as the other babies but he is warming up and is a really sweet boy. We are at the half-way mark with our babies!

Little Friends Pickles                                                                  - Sold -

Date of Birth: 03. April 2010 - 10:40 AM

Birth Height: 22 1/2" at 2 days

Sire: KMA Montana The Sundance Kid

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Dalley Ho's Thelma

         35" Dark Brown Frosty Roan

And another stunning baby for Thelma! After a dark spotted, a frosted spotted white and a rose dun w. a big white star, Thelma had another girl. She looks to be a brown/white spotted but she has all the signs of being a dark brown base frosted spotted white. If she is not she has a lot of roaning in her dark spots. Whatever she is - her color is special and she has a striped mane and beautiful dark rimmed eyes! She is a very active and independent little girl!

Little Friends Topeka                                                            - Sold -

Date of Birth: 02. April 2010 - 1:40 AM

Foal Coat Color: light gray-dun

        30 3/4" light red

Dam: C-J-D Maverick Storm

         34" Gray-Dun

Our son's second and last baby for the year has arrived and it's a girl! We watched Maverick for about 2 1/2 weeks day and night - along with Odyssey but she was going to have her baby on her own terms. This little girl is all girl! In her stall she is extremely outgoing and loves to play - outside she is a little bit more reserved since she is the youngest in the group - but she is getting used to it. She has the cutest small head!

        33" Black & White Spotted

Dam: Schrater's Odyssey

         33 1/4" Brown

Odyssey looked like she was ready to foal for 2 weeks! We checked on her several times a night for two weeks and no baby! Then she finally decided after a long tiring night for us to have her baby outside on a beautiful, warm morning after I was finished doing my morning chores! She had this beautiful little boy and his color is absolutely nice! Odyssey's babies always look like her. They inherit her soft, shorter fur and her extensive white points - and the most beautiful, expressive eyes ever! He is an active little guy!

Little Friends Zecco                                                          - Sold -

Date of Birth: 26. March 2010 - 2:30 PM

Foal Coat Color: light gray-dun

Sire: Ass-pirin Acres Jolly Roger

        30 3/4" light red

Dam: C-J-D Memorial Belle

         34" Gray-Dun

Zecco is our first boy for the season and he is my son's baby. I was just pulling out of my driveway to pick up our son from school when the little guy just tried to get up on his feet. We had watched Memorial Belle's best friend Maverick for over a week since we thought she would foal soon - instead it was Memorial Belle! She didn't have much milk at first and the little guy had to work hard for his groceries. We supplemented him with colostrum, to ensure that he would have the antibodies needed. The next morning there was much more milk to his delight!  This little boy is friendly but not pushy - he is just a sweet boy!

Zecco's new home will be in Maurertown, Virginia.
